If you're in New York City and craving authentic Japanese cuisine, Oramen is a must-visit establishment. Located at 579 6th Ave, this cozy restaurant excels in delivering exceptional flavors, particularly evident in their tonkatsu ramen. One patron, Eric Lecht, raves about its savory depth and perfectly cooked pork, claiming it has quickly become his favorite ramen spot in the city.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for solo diners or family gatherings. While some dishes like the Duck Shoyu Ramen have received mixed reviews, the pork gyoza and katsu sando consistently garner praise. Kana Higuchi attests to the excellence of the katsu sando, highlighting its freshly fried cutlet and pleasant contrast with shredded cabbage.
Moreover, the reasonable prices, especially with their lunch specials serving full-sized ramen for just $22, make it an accessible option for all diners. The attentive staff further enhances the experience, ensuring that your visit is enjoyable from start to finish. All in all, Oramen is not just another ramen joint; it’s an essential destination for anyone seeking genuine Japanese flavors in the heart of NYC.

I've had some great ramen, but THIS was a cut above. I had the basic tonkatsu, so savory! The pork was *perfect*, and it's fat stuck to my lips, in all the best ways. The flavors lingered a while after I finished. New favorite joint here in the Big Apple. Service was good --it was crowded, wait staff was managing the lunch crush but I was taken care of. Lots of room, plenty of tables. Will mos' def return, counting the days ..... Top shelf ......

The atmosphere and the service are great. I have tried the Duck Shoyu Ramen which had a greasy taste so I don’t recommend it. The pork gyoza was very nice!

This is my first time here, warm and nice welcome from servers. Cozy and nice atmosphere. enjoyed it, the prices were very reasonable, the food was very delicious, fresh and tasty. Lunch specials are a good deal. They have lunch special with full size ramen bowl for only 22 serve with delicious appetizer. Staff very friendly and super attentive to customers . 1000% recommend this place. And will be back again for sure.

Oramen serves an amazing, no frills katsu sando. The cutlet is always freshly fried, the shredded cabbage offers a cool contrast to the warm cutlet, and the soft milk bread always has the crust removed. They stick to the script and they do it very well! Though the quality of some of their other dishes, like the shumai, have wavered over the years, the katsu sando has never disappointed me. Oramen is also good for affordable sushi rolls. They are great for when I am craving sushi, but something less fancy than a full omakase meal.

I absolutely loved this place. It was my first time going, I'll go back again with company! The spicy miso with chicken is so good and the lychee drink.
